Not permitted
Exotic pets, reptiles, amphibians, ferrets, and any wildlife species — including those native to Arunachal Pradesh — are strictly prohibited under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

The hotel reserves the right to refuse any pet deemed unsafe upon arrival, with a full refund of pet fees.
Documentation required at check-in
- Vaccination certificate — Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis. Cats: Rabies, Feline Panleukopenia, Feline Herpesvirus. All within valid dates.
- Veterinary health certificate — issued no more than 10 days before arrival, confirming the pet is free of infectious disease and fit for high-altitude travel.
- Microchip / ID proof — microchip number or identification tag details.
- Breed declaration form — the hotel’s own form, signed by the guest at check-in.
High-altitude health advisory · 3,048 m (10,000 ft). Pets can experience altitude sickness — lethargy, loss of appetite, breathing difficulty. We recommend resting your pet for 24 hours upon arrival before any outdoor activity. Brachycephalic breeds (Pugs, Bulldogs, Persian cats) face elevated respiratory risk and are accepted at the owner’s risk with a mandatory signed health waiver.
Pet-friendly rooms
Timilo Boutique designates 3 of its 16 rooms as pet-friendly. These rooms are on the ground floor, fitted with secure latch windows and draft-proofed doors, and assigned in a dedicated wing away from non-pet accommodation.
Advance booking required
Pet-friendly rooms must be reserved in advance. Guests must declare their pet(s) — species, breed, name, weight, and number — at the time of booking. Confirmation follows within 24 hours.
Undeclared pets. Pets found without prior declaration attract a penalty of ₹3,000 per night in addition to standard pet fees, and may result in immediate termination of stay without refund.
Service & assistance animals
Certified guide dogs, hearing dogs, and psychiatric service animals are welcome in all hotel areas — no fees apply — with documentation at check-in. Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are subject to standard fees and all policy conditions per Indian law.

Check-in protocol
- Arrive at the designated pet check-in zone near the main entrance (marked with a paw symbol).
- Present all mandatory documentation to the Front Desk Manager.
- Sign the Pet Guest Agreement and pay the refundable security deposit.
- Receive your Pet Guest Card identifying your pet(s) and room number.
- Staff will escort you directly to your room, bypassing the main lobby if requested.
- A brief wellness check will be conducted by trained staff.
Check-out protocol
- Room inspected in the guest’s presence before departure.
- Any deposit deductions communicated at this stage.
- Guests must collect all pet belongings; the hotel assumes no responsibility for items left behind.
- Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier throughout the checkout process.
Leash & supervision
- Pets must be leashed at all times in outdoor and common areas.
- Cats must be in carriers or harnesses when outside the room.
- Pets may not be left unsupervised for more than 3 consecutive hours.
- Pets must never be tied to exterior fixtures or pillars unattended.
- Service animals may accompany owners freely, without restriction.
Noise & behaviour — warning system
- Verbal warning issued to the guest.
- Second incident: written notice with a ₹1,000 fine.
- Third incident: mandatory checkout, no refund of remaining nights.
Zero tolerance. Aggressive behaviour towards staff, other guests, or animals results in immediate termination of stay.
Waste management
- Clean up immediately after your pet in all hotel and surrounding areas.
- Complimentary waste bags are available at all pet zones and the front desk.
- Pet relief zones are marked on the hotel map provided at check-in.
- Double-bag all waste and use marked sealed bins only — not general waste, toilets, or drains.
Local wildlife & livestock. Do not allow pets to approach, chase, or engage with stray dogs, local livestock (yaks, horses, dzos), or any wildlife (red pandas, Himalayan black bears, deer, migratory birds). Guests whose pets injure local animals are liable for veterinary and legal costs under applicable law.

7:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily, on approved hotel trails only. The walker carries a first-aid kit. Not offered during snowfall or weather alerts. Two hours’ advance booking.
In-room pet dining
Boiled chicken, rice and digestible options, available 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM from a separate pet food prep area. Your own food is accepted in sealed containers. Per-menu pricing; room-service charges apply.
Grooming ₹400 per session — coming soon
Basic brushing and paw cleaning at the outdoor grooming station. Advance booking required.
Limited local veterinary access. The nearest full-service veterinary clinic is approximately 75–100 km away in Dirang or Bomdila. The hotel will assist in coordinating emergency transport — but all medical decisions and costs remain the owner’s responsibility.
Altitude sickness — warning signs

An Emergency Pet Protocol Card is placed in every pet-friendly room. Staff will immediately inform the owner and assist with transport if required.
Pet loss or escape protocol
- Immediately notify the Front Desk.
- Staff will initiate a property-wide search from the last known location.
- The hotel will coordinate with local animal welfare contacts.
The hotel is not liable for pets that escape due to owner negligence.
Wildlife & ecosystem protection
Tawang lies within the Eastern Himalayan Biodiversity Hotspot, close to Tawang Wildlife Sanctuary and Eagle’s Nest Wildlife Sanctuary. Guests are strictly prohibited from:
- Taking pets on trails into protected or forested areas
- Allowing pets to chase or disturb wildlife
- Leaving pet waste near water bodies or forested areas
- Feeding local wildlife with pet food
Violations may attract penalties under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
Respecting Tawang’s Buddhist heritage. Pets must not be brought to monastery premises, religious festivals (Torgya, Losar), or within 50 metres of active prayer spaces. During religious processions, pets must be secured in rooms. Barking near monasteries during early-morning prayers (4 AM – 6 AM) must be proactively prevented.
Owner liability
The pet owner is fully and solely responsible for:
- All actions and behaviour of their pet on hotel property and surrounding areas
- Any injury caused by the pet to hotel staff, guests, local animals, or third parties
- All property damage caused by the pet
- Any legal or regulatory proceedings arising from the pet’s actions
Hotel liability limitations
The hotel shall not be liable for:
- Injury, illness, or death of a pet due to altitude, climate, or pre-existing conditions
- Loss or theft of a pet
- Reactions to local food, water, or environmental factors
- Veterinary costs incurred during or after the stay
- Pet escapes resulting from owner negligence
Winter stay advisory (November – March). Temperatures can drop to −15°C in peak winter. Outdoor pet time is restricted to 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Pet relief areas are cleared by staff by 8:00 AM daily. Please bring thermal blankets and cold-weather gear for your pet.
